Complimentary nights, free slots, and who had authority

Properties and clinics give complimentary inventory for good reasons: a service recovery, a staff rate, a doctor’s family, a travel-agent familiarisation stay. The application should still name the authority and the reason.

We do not police generosity. We test whether the free or reduced application was written down, whether it used inventory already promised to a paying name, and whether the folio shows zero because someone decided so or because the cashier never posted the stay.

The classes we use are practical: unsupported complimentary, staff rate without a named staff member, recovery night after a complaint that is not on file, and a ‘house use’ room that was occupied by a guest who paid cash off the folio.

That distinction matters in the report. A manager can tighten a complimentary log. A missing cash folio is a different conversation, and we keep the two apart.
